The last year has been tough.
We certainly never dreamed when we opened our beautiful, new clubhouse in July, 2019 that eight months later we would be closing it—for more than a year! Or that a flood would then cause unfathomable damage, pushing reopening back for additional months. But, our GRAND RE-OPENING is coming soon and, in August, we will offer a number of in-person programs at both our Kosair Charities Campus clubhouse on Grinstead Dr. and our Gilda’s Club/KAAAC West Louisville clubhouse at 17th and Broadway.
In the meantime, we have some exciting outdoor in-person activities for adults, youth and their families.
We are working hard to prepare state-of-the-art technology in both spaces for hybrid program options for those who choose to join us virtually, as well as for those who want to attend in person.
Covid has allowed us to reach more people out of the Kentuckiana area and, for them, as well as for those who might not feel safe around others, we want to maintain the greatest access by offering the option of virtual when possible and appropriate.
Some program offerings may be strictly virtual, while others work more effectively in-person but, rest assured, there will be an abundance of options for both—everything from virtual coast-to-coast game nights to the return of our beloved meal host program (with a few changes to ensure everyone’s safety).
We are so excited to welcome our phenomenal volunteers back! Our greeters, clubhouse hosts, meal hosts, office staff and, of course, program facilitators. Most of all, we are thrilled to welcome back families living with cancer into these spaces to fully utilize all they have to offer and to see friends—old and new—meet or reunite.
We can’t wait to see how much we grow with both of these options available, helping to ensure no one faces cancer alone.
In this world which has been so full of uncertainty in the last year and a half—one thing is certain: community is stronger than cancer.
