It’s been one year since we closed our Clubhouse doors due to COVID-19.
None of us could have predicted that a year later we’d still be navigating a world in crisis and facing so much uncertainty.
We ended 2019 on a high note with the completion of our capital campaign and the move to our new facility. We were eager to open our first branch site at the Republic Bank YMCA and continue to expand program offerings in Southern Indiana. All of that was turned upside down last March.
While COVID dealt the entire world a blow, we knew that families living with cancer needed support, perhaps more than ever before.
We evolved to meet the ever-changing conditions of our world and made sure that support continued.
Fearless creativity, a willingness to leap outside the box, color outside the lines, and forget much of what we knew about how to do this work prevailed and allowed us to not only survive, but thrive.
– Program offerings increased from an average of 125 a month to 189.
– We created a wider reach through our virtual programs – enabling us to serve folks all over the world.
– We mobilized volunteers from coast to coast, a couple from Canada, and even one from Spain to offer a rich program of virtual support, education, and community.
– Hundreds of volunteers made deliveries to thousands of households throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana, sharing care packages, friendly masked smiles, and information about our psychosocial support resources.
In a way that we never expected, this pandemic has enabled us to reach more families living with cancer than ever before.
We’ve created new relationships, strengthened existing partnerships, and continued to offer our program for free to those we serve – thanks to our phenomenal supporters.
