June 28th is the birthday of Saturday Night Live star Gilda Radner, whose cancer experience inspired the creation of Gilda’s Club.
Watch this video to find out more about our network and hear about our early days from Joanna Bull, Mitch Golant and Gilda Radner’s brother Michael Radner who were all instrumental in our founding and expansion.
Without a doubt, we have witnessed significant advances in treating this devastating disease. Yet, nothing takes the place of the power, inspiration, companionship, and connection that comes from community. Every day, we and our network partners around the world do just that. People who walk through our doors find free emotional support, healthy lifestyle activities, social connection, education, and referral services provided with compassion and expertise—whether in person or online.
We offer opportunities for individuals living with cancer to raise their voices in our local community and beyond by joining forces with our partners to advocate on the state and national levels. Individuals also have chances to contribute to important research that inspires positive change in cancer care and the patient experience.
Our 175 locations form a global community of people dedicated to helping those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Together, we offer $50 million each year in free support.
